Even tried on a different wireless provider," says a user who is one among the many who reported the same problem in Apple Support forum.
There is no concrete fix for this issue as it occurs when the Apple server is overcrowded with a huge number of users trying to download iOS 9 at the same time. The best solution is to just to wait for a few hours before you update.

Just so that other users can use their time efficiently, I would point out that whether or not iOS 9. If my comment is unhelpful, I personally will not take offence at someone pointing that out in a non-abusive manner.
Indeed, it is only by knowing when I get something wrong that I can stop making the same mistakes. The proposed solution would not have worked though - as I mentioned, I was able to download the update directly and note that I had done a backup , but it wouldn't install. As I also mentioned, I was only able to install the update via iTunes and as I have now updated, don't need further instructions myself. Redownloading the update file would be a helpful suggestion for someone who hasn't tried that. Suggesting it to someone who has stated that they have tried that already is not helpful. As I get an email each time a reply is added, I implore other users of the forum to read what has already been said before posting further replies that aren't relevant to this specific situation - namely, that updates fail and all suggested solutions fail other than in my case updating via iTunes. I hope this message does not come across as being a 'rant', I am merely trying to prevent the time of other users and me being wasted and unnecessary annoyance being caused.
